Rectangular Marble Inlay Tables Tops
of colored and variegated marbles with a large central roundel and scrolls and palmettes at the corners, executed and inlaid with Italian Stones and colored marble with smaller roundels of Mother Of Pearl.
This inlaid table top, inlay mosaic table was probably designed for the front of an altar and is characteristic of the output of Neapolitan marble workshops in the 2nd half of the seventeenth century. Both the quality of the marble and design with its large central roundel and surroundings volutes, suggest comparisons with the inlaid floor of the Certosa di San Martino in Naples.
